'Mubarakan' stars the real uncle-nephew, Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor in reel character. Arjun is said to essay dual roles. Anees Bazmee is the director. Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty play the female lead roles. 

The story revolves around Karan and Charan (both played by Arjun) who are identical twins but through a twist of fate end up becoming cousins. While one is raised in Chandigarh, the other is brought up in London. Both of them have a different character that they can hardly be called as brothers. The fun starts when their families start searching for a bride for them, unaware of the fact that they already have girlfriends – Binkle (Athiya Shetty) and Sweety (Ileana D’Cruz). But their genuine uncle Kartar Singh (Anil Kapoor) is aware of all this and tries to get them out of this mess and stop the confusions. How Kartar is able to do so single-handedly, forms the crux of the story.
